How to Remove Your Number From Truecaller

Truecaller is a popular app that shows you contact details of unknown numbers calling you. It crowdsources contact details from all its users' address books. So even if you've never used the service, your name and number could be on Truecaller's database, thanks to someone else who's saved your contact details and allowed the app to access them.

Not everyone knows this, but for fixed-line phones, Truecaller even lists the address of the landline. This doesn't mean much when telemarketers or spammers call from an office address, but ideally you wouldn't want strangers to know your home address just because you called them from your landline.

Of course Truecaller sources this data from public data sources. This is because if someone knows your landline number, they can easily find the registered address via any publicly available phonebook (many telcos have this information public) or even by simply searching for your landline number on Google.

For this reason, you should consider removing your number from Truecaller's database. Note that you can't remove your number from the service if you are using the app You'll have to deactivate your own account to get your number removed. If you were hoping to get just your number removed, while seeing contact details of everyone else who calls, you're out of luck.

If you are ready to remove Truecaller once and for all, here's what you need to do. If you are using the app on iPhone,Android, or Windows mobile, here's how to deactivate your Truecaller account.

Steps to deactivate your Truecaller account

Android

Open the app > tap the people icon in the upper left corner > Settings > About > Deactivate account.

iPhone

Open the app > tap the gear icon in the top right corner > About Truecaller > Scroll down > Deactivate Truecaller.

Windows Mobile

Open the app and tap the three dots in the bottom right corner > Settings > Help > Deactivate account.

Once you have deactivated your Truecaller account, you can proceed to removing your number from the service. Here's how.

How to remove your number from Truecaller

Go to the Truecaller unlist page

Enter your phone number with the correct country code. For example: +911140404040 or +919999999999.

Tick one of the reasons for unlisting, or if you wish, type your reasons for removal in the Other form.

Key in the verification captcha.

Click Unlist

They will ask for you confirmation as above screen simply click in ok

Truecaller claims that it removes these numbers up to 24 hours after receiving an unlist request This doesn't always mean that your number will stay off the service forever.

We'd removed our mobile number around a year ago but it started appearing again on the service a few days ago even though we've never used Truecaller. Your best bet is to keep checking with Truecaller users whether they see your contact details. If they don't, you're good to go. If not, you can always ask them to unlist your number.

How To Block Annoying Ads In Android Notification Bar

How To Block Annoying Ads In Android Notification Bar

One of the key components of the Android OS has always been the notifications system where you get all kinds of notifications in the notification bar. Sadly, some app developers seem to abuse it by putting ads there.

If you have many apps installed, it becomes
annoying to see all these notifications. To fix this problem, the best way is to block the ads on certain apps to not appearing. If you have Android phone running 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher, you can easily block this ads by turning off notifications for an app.

Here I will show you how to do it.

1. If you already know the apps which displaying
ads, just go to the Settings -> Application
Manager, then tap the required app to open the
App Info panel.

2. Uncheck the box next to the “Show notifications” and tap ‘OK’ to the warning that appears .

3. And you are done.

If you don’t know the apps which displaying ads, then follow the following steps:

1. Pull down the notification bar and long press on the advertisement.

2. A box labeled ‘App info’ will appear below the
notification.

3. Tap that box and repeat the steps mentioned
above, you can also uninstall this app if it’s not of
much use to you.

This will not only stop the apps from sending ads but will also free up some space on your phone’s storage .

You can always re-enable the notifications by going back into the app settings and rechecking the ‘Show notifications’ box.

What can I do if I’m using Android 4.0 (ICS)
or an older version of Android?

There is not much you can do in this case as those versions do not provide an option to block
notifications on your phone.

The only solution to fix this annoying problem is to remove the app that is displaying and allowing the ads on notification bar.

However, you have installed several apps, then
finding the culprit is very hard. To make it easy, you can download AirPush Detector app that is available for free at Google play store.

This app will automatically search all of your apps to find the offensive app and then displays you a list. Now you can remove all the apps that are displayed in the list to stop those notification bar ads.
